June Wedding Wear

June Wedding Wear

‘Tis the Wedding Season!! So, what to wear!? Er on the side of classic and you can’t go wrong. I found this Dolce and Gabbana dress that’s full of color and perfect to wear to a lovely June wedding. Make it pop even more with some bright colored accessories…bright colored accessories are always a good way to brighten up any classic silhouette-especially the sleeveless sheath dress.

Don’t forget to tuck away your favorite lip wear in your clutch either. ;) I’ve found that Sugar Lips works really well at hydrating for a long period of time…and it smells nice and fresh too.

Happy Memorial Day

I love Memorial Day.  Not only because of the fact that it kind of marks the beginning of summer and it usually includes some sort of delicious pie, but because of it’s true meaning. To honor those who have, and are serving for our country and freedom.

I like to make sure I wear my Grandpa’s army buckle and ring especially on Memorial Day and other patriotic holidays, even though I wear them pretty regularly otherwise. They are two pieces of him that I have and cherish to remind me of him, and what he was most proud of in his long life…serving his country. They will always remind me of him and his endless number of war stories. Stories that he’d tell with that authentic sense of pride.

Happy Memorial Day!

Lilacs and a Coral Skirt

The lilacs are in bloom! Lilacs are so lovely and fragrant, I wish they were in bloom for a longer period of time. But we can at least enjoy them while they last…

Top from Anthropologie, coral tulip skirt made by me, sandals from Target, sparkly belt also from Anthropologie.

Running Around CLE

Today was the day of the Cleveland marathon. It turned out to be a beautiful day for it compared to last year’s intense heat. The course was a little different this year too, starting by the newly refinished Mall (no, not the shopping kind) and Convention center near the lakefront.

It’s always fun to run around CLE to follow your friends and family on different areas of the course. And you will no doubtedly end up with some awesome pictures…especially if it’s on a clear and beautiful spring day in Cleveland.

I tell myself every year after watching the marathon that I too, am going to get my butt out there and start running. I always end up feeling super motivated by all the runners, and by seeing the camaraderie that happens among them…if a fellow runner is struggling, they have got each others backs…sometimes literally. That, to me, is a sign of honest and true sportsmanship… and who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

Mix It Up

Mixing styles has always been fun for me. Especially highs and lows, like this lace top with Converse sneakers. Like a lot of things in life, I think opposites attract. So, pair that lace top with casual sneakers, or that leather moto jacket with the frilly dress, boyfriend jeans with pumps…the list goes on. Give them a try! :)

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Today is a one picture post day. I posted this same pic of my mom last mother’s day. It is probably my favorite photo of her that was taken by my dad and for this mother’s day, I thought it’d be fun for me to re-create the same photo. I always love seeing pictures of people with their moms or dads, or siblings just to see the similarities in genetics. So I thought I’d share one :) Like Mother, like daughter.

Happy Mother’s Day, mothers!! :)

May Flowers

Well, today is a beautiful Spring day in May! Almost 80 here in CLE, which is an awesome change compared to the 50 degree days we’ve been consistently experiencing. I love that most of the trees are finally turning green or budding, and when you’re driving you get whiffs of flowers or freshly cut grass. So I guess all those April showers did bring us some May flowers!

To say I’m ready for the warm weather is an understatement…I am BEYOND ready for the warm weather, after the brutal winter we had this year, it is about stinkin’ time. Bring on the heat. I’m ready to wear lots of skirts and dresses, annnd sandals…as evidenced in this post. ;)

I made this skirt last week. I had it cut out for a while and just kind of forgot about it. The great thing about it is that since it’s neutral, being black and white, it will go nicely with many things. Today, I chose a classic chambray shirt and statement necklace. Chambrays are a definite closet must for men and women.

Chambray shirt from Target, made the skirt, sandals from Target $12!, straw fedora from H&M, necklace from Dillard’s.

Brighten Up

Now that it is May, I am definitely ready to see some more consistent Spring weather on this side of the country. We’ve had some pretty warm days here and there, but for the most part, we’ve seen a lot of rain…and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels kind of blah when it rains. Rainy days are my indoor days…the days I can spend all day sewing and not feel guilty about not going outside. Well, if the rain’s not going to go away (at least for the time being) then I will brighten up my days by brightening up my wardrobe! And I think YOU should do the same ;)

These bright pink pants are a pair I made last year. (Also seen in this post). They’re like a red (but pink) flag-They cannot be missed. That is for certain. The camisole is a more recent (like, a couple days ago) sewing project of mine. I didn’t have much of this beautiful silk to work with, but I had just enough to make a silk cami. The colors are gorgeous. Belt is from Anthropologie last summer–yes, yes I have many-a- Anthro sparkle belt. They really are the best though. Coach wristlet. Cobalt blue heels from Gianni Bini at Dillards.

How will you brighten up your wardrobe for Spring?? :)
