The Pre-Season Shoes

Got some new shoes! :)  Nude/blush leather oxfords by GB from Dillard’s.  They were immediately comfortable, being made of buttery soft leather and all.  It kind of feels like I’m wearing ballet or jazz shoes.  What’s great about these shoes is that they’re very wear-able right now even though it’s only July.  Perfect for the chillier nights we’re starting to experience (at least here in the OH), which makes them a really good transition shoe into Fall -since I know we all get very anxious to bust out those cute boots, and start wearing them as soon as the calendar declares it to be the Autumn season- but in reality…boots are still way too hot at the end of August, so why not break in some oxfords to start with.

I thought I’d try them out with a cute dress and blazer first.

Dress from BCBG Generation…I call it my ‘lip dress’ because of the subtle all over  lip print.  Definitely a fave I do not wear often enough.

Jacket: H&M

Leather belt: Men’s department of Old Navy

Necklace: Also from Dillard’s

P.S. Polka Dots and Leopard Spots is now on Facebook!  See ya there!! :)

All That Sparkles, Part II

Beaded/Embellished top #2.

This sparkly number is one of my favorite buys.  I got it for like $20, from an original $80.  It was definitely one of those impulse purchases that when you see it and how beautiful it is (and marked down), you get taken over by an adrenalin filled ‘must- buy- now!’ kind of feeling that rushes through you.  It’s by a contemporary label, Hazel…carried at Dillard’s.

worn with skinny jeans (also, only $20), and mary-jane style heels-both from Target;  Basic white tank.

Same bangle and watch as the Part I post.

All That Sparkles, Part I

Beaded, or embellished tops are so much fun to experiment with.  Their versatility is pretty great, since you can dress them up or down and either way looks stylish.  The greatest part about dressing down a beaded top is the high/low effect.  The fancy is paired with the casual and somehow they just sort of cancel each other out, and everything works out beautifully.  Kind of like a math equation.

Here, I dressed down my scalloped edge, sleeveless sequin top with some denim cut-offs, Steve Madden brogues, and a straw fedora from H&M.

watch was mom’s, bangle from Dillard’s.

You can find some very pretty embellished tops  here.

Happy Fourth of July everyone!! The Fourth is always a fun summer holiday.  Parades, fireworks, cookouts, family and friends…all to celebrate what America should be most proud of and always remember…our Independence. Land of the Free–Go America! :)

Our nation has some great colors- red, white and blue. Not only are they obviously patriotic, but they are two primary colors that are very complementary.  Red and blue look really great together, and there are ways to wear red and blue without looking toooo Team USA, but of course there’s nothing wrong with wearing your nation’s pride on your sleeve. ;)

Worn here, white khaki pants with Chambray shirt (Target), red scarf and Gianni Bini cobalt blue pumps (Dillard’s), and Gpa’s Army meadallion belt.

It’s amazing what you can do with a Chambray shirt.  I would have to say that is a DEFINITE in everyone’s wardrobe- girls and guys.  There are so many ways to wear it.  Of course, you can always find a great Chambray shirt here.

Have a Happy and Safe Holiday!!!!!
